Moderation Policy

Fair, transparent, human-reviewed.

Moderation decisions affect real people in real pain. We treat them with the seriousness they deserve. Here is exactly how it works.

What we remove

Content that breaks our Community Guidelines: identifying information, medical prescriptions, promotion, hate speech, graphic self-harm content, sexual content, and harassment.

We also remove obvious spam, off-platform recruitment, and impersonation of therapists, listeners, or staff.

How content is flagged

Three signals: (1) members reporting a message, (2) an AI safety classifier scanning new posts in real time, (3) our care team's regular review of high-traffic Circles.

Who decides

AI flags messages for review — it never permanently removes content on its own. Every removal is reviewed by a trained human moderator within 24 hours (4 hours for crisis-tagged content).

Consequences

Nudge. First minor violation — a private, gentle message explaining what crossed the line.

Warning. Repeated minor violations — a formal warning logged to your account.

Temporary suspension. Serious or repeated violations — 7 to 30 days off Circles.

Permanent ban. Hate speech, doxxing, encouragement of self-harm, or sexual content directed at users — immediate and permanent.

How to appeal

Every removal or suspension comes with a link to appeal. Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator than the one who made the original decision, within 7 days. Email appeals to trust@saantvana.app.

What we publish

Twice a year we publish an anonymized transparency report: how many items were removed, by category, how many appeals succeeded, and average response times.

Crisis escalation

If a moderator believes a member is in imminent danger, the conversation is escalated to our on-call clinical advisor and the member is shown helpline numbers immediately. We do not contact emergency services on your behalf without your consent unless required by law.
